hi, I’m Jessica!
I am my ancestors answered prayers, I am the one who carries the dreams they couldn’t speak or finish.
I am the granddaughter of farmers and farmhands from the Deep South. My lineage is deeply filled with midwives, herbalists, and conjure folx. This work was written into my story, way before I entered it. This is spiritual, ancestral, and sacred legacy work for me. A continuation of a legacy rooted in community care and spiritual presence.
I entered this work on the opposite end of life, around the age of 7. My grandparents were a deacon + deaconess at their church, and I was often along for the ride as they bore witness, held, and ushered their community, friends, and family members across the veil. My grandmother would often instruct me to comfort and hold space for those mourning their loved ones.
I had accepted this calling before even knowing what it meant. I’ve been obsessed with birth, pregnancy + postpartum from a very young age, growing up watching “A Baby Story” on TLC with my cousins. I’d always felt pregnancy was a magical experience. I have had two intimate and supported home births, with the birth of my daughter going viral and being the catalyst for me getting into this work in 2019.
I’m into holistic healing, plant medicine, cloth diapering, biological normative parenting, + breast/body feeding. I am a trained holistic birth + postpartum doula, childbirth + babywearing educator, as well as an assistant student midwife.
I am a creator of life and spaces, and it is my absolute honor to support families as they create and usher their babies’ earth side.
I am a WHOLE mood and your birth + postpartum should be too. I am on a mission to continue to educate, support, and show up for Black + Indigenous folx, PGM every single day – to make safe birthing options accessible to my community. I deeply believe our collective liberation is connected; let’s start freeing ourselves.
Social + reproductive justice is my JAM! Welcome to my protest!
